Sukkah for Peace in Holit Kibbutz
Israel Kibutz Holit | July 30, 2009
The organisers of the World March in Israel have met with leaders of the Shomer Hatzair Movement and have agreed to carry out 3 days of activities for the World March related to Peace and Nonviolence in Holit Kibbutz on the 7th, 8th and 9th of October 2009.
----
The agreed activities involve a day like a "Day of Nonviolence", "Ecological Education" and "Peace and Coexistence" and youth movements and the general public from across the country will participate. The party will start with a "Sukkah for Peace" (during these days the Feast of Tabernacles takes place when the 40 year journey of the Jewish people through the Sinai desert after being liberated from slavery in Egypt. A Sukkah is a make-shift dwelling which they stayed in), conferences, discussion groups and, at night, artistic events and dancing.
Kibbutz Holit is located in the South of Israel, barely 2 kilometers from the triple border with Gaza and Egypt and it's one of the Kibbutzim of Shomer Hatzair, a pioneering Kibbutz Movement in the country, with a zionist and socialist orientation.
