World March for Peace: symposium in Sierra Leone

Theme:  Importance of the World March for Peace and Nonviolence!

Dear Friends,

Peace! Force and Joy! To you all.

As part of the Association for Human Development Sierra Leone national WM promotion Team effort towards the promotion of the world march, yesterday ended a succefull one day symposium(on the theme "important of the WM") as an effort to spread the message of the WM to all sierra Leonean and non-sierra Leonean living in the country.

The main theme of discussion in the symposium was the important of the World March for Peace and Non-violence to Sierra Leone and the world as a whole. At the symposium documents of the WM were photocopy and distributed to participants and also videos of non-violence were downloaded on a projector and shown to participants.

Group discussions on personal feeling on the world march, its important for world peace and roles individuals can play to make it a success were held in group of "10 participants each".

Media coverage was also a fundamental part of the symposium. Two National Television Stations: The Sierra Leone Broadcasting Services Television (SLBS) and the ABC Television Sierra Leone covered the symposium. Downloaded WM videos/Silo's sports were also broadcasted by the said station to the sierra Leonean people.

People from all works of life ranging from Journalist, Musical artist, Human right workers and government officials participated in the symposium. And so far since the the symposium end two a day ago, reactions(through emails and phone calls) from the sierra Leonean people towards the WM has been good and encouraging.

PLACE, DATE AND TIME:

The symposium took place at the CCSL Hall, Freetown (Sierra Leone capital) on the 10th December 2008, from 9: AM (Morning) to 6: PM (Evening).

Ninety-Five people participated in the symposium (Journalists, students, professors, musical artist, human right activist's government officials etc):

AFTER THE SYMPOSIUM WHAT NEXT?

Now that the Symposium is over, the WM Sierra Leonean promotion Team is still committed towards the promotion of the world march. So in this regard for the months of December 2008 to January 2009 we are going to be extensively involved in media publication of WM information (through local news pappers, national television station and door to door awareness raising about the WM}to the Sierra Leonean population. And also along the line we also hope to take this WM information to top Government offices (An Awareness Raising campaign team has already been set for this).

We hope to send you photos and copy of the information on our local newspapers when they are been publish.
