The Invisibles against US missile defense
Support from Citizens for Peace in Space in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA
To the Czech Hunger Strikers in the Nonviolence Campaign:
Citizens for Peace in Space in Colorado Springs, Colorado, USA, sends its support and solidarity to the many people in the Czech Republic who are taking on the important task of continuing the hunger strike begun by Jan Tamas and Jan Bednar. We support the June 22 World Day of Fasting to show support for halting radar base construction in the Czech Republic, and many local members of CPIS will be joining the fast on that day.
We are particularly energized to see a strong movement emerge in the Czech Republic before any U.S. bases for missile defense have been established. Here in Colorado Springs, the home to five military bases and to several headquarters for missile-defense operations, we daily see new missile-defense facilities open up or expand, both those directly run by the government, and the dozens of private military contractor operations here in Colorado. The efforts by Czech citizens to halt the U.S. radar bases gives us optimism and inspiration for challenging the many missile defense operations here in Colorado and throughout the United States.
Peace,
Loring Wirbel and Bill Sulzman on behalf of Citizens for Peace in Space
